Academics

This Fall (2006) I began teaching at CSULB. My Chair, Larry Nolan, and I co-organized the 10th California Conference in Early Modern Philosophy. The conference featured invited talks by Martha Bolton, Rutgers, Alan Nelson, UNC, Tad Schmaltz, Duke, Todd Ryan, Trinity College, and Alice Sowaal, SFSU. There were also a number of excellent Graduate Student Papers which were chosen by blind review. The conference was a great success and I'd like to thank the Student Philosophy Association at CSULB for all their help setting up and supporting the conference, and Nick Allen for doing the conference website. We have the funding for next year already and will be sending out a call for papers soon! Stay tuned…

The Student Philosophy Association also sponsored a regional conference on Women in Philosophy this November. I was very honored to take part in the program. Thanks again to SPA.

Spring 2007:
CSULB made 3 offers this spring, and all three candidates have accepted. This fall we will have Patrick Dieveney (Arizona) who specializes in Metaphysics, Nellie Wieland (UCSD) who specializes in Philosophy of Language, and Jason Raibley (UMass Amherst) who specializes in Ethics, as new colleagues.
